I don't want anyone to be unhappy when it comes to trains, regardless of scale. The way I see this whole thing is, a bunch of HO guys feel that they have been wronged by MTH. There are things about MTH I like and there some things I don't like, but as consumers I feel that we need to stick together. We don't want more lawsiuts in our hobby, and MTH now has a reputation.

There are a number of issues as to why they feel that way. Part of it has to do with NMRA standards for DCC. Another piece of it has to do with MTH's patent and a letter sent do DCC manufacturers advising them of MTH's rights. It is all rather muddled.

Even though this is a vocal minority speaking out over on MR, I hope MTH at least listens to them. They really do represent the people that MTH needs to make this venture a success. The number of people who have viewed the topic since last Friday is incredible. Over 4500 views now!!! People are watching.

Allan, we as O gaugers have a certain sense of loyalty and a closeness to MTH, as they have been bringing us trains for almost 25 years. I personally defended MTH on a different topic when some of the HO guys called them worthless. I showed them some photos of some premier pieces, and they shut right up.[;)]

MTH entering the HO market is almost like Columbus getting off the boat in the new world. The natives didn't want him there, but there he was. Now what?

This morning I had to go to the dentist. I cracked a tooth, and have to get a crown. There goes 3 TMCC diesels right out the window.[B)] After the dentist, I went to the hobby store, and talked with the owner while the novicane wore off. This is one of the best general hobby stores in the area, and has a very large train inventory. We discussed the hobby business in general, and how it has changed over the years.

One thing hasn't changed, he stocks what customers ask for!!! A Pennsy locomotive in Minnesota, he laughed. That won't be coming here, GN would be different. As for selling systems, they only sell a couple Digitrax per month. They would be hard pressed to sell a couple DCS systems per year.

Don't worry Dave, I think we have our horns sufficiently reigned in here now. It is easy to butt heads around here when coming across people that you don't know well. Bob was concerned that things were escalating here. Heck, we never got into any name calling. Allan actually has a pretty good sense of humor. There's no reason we can't be friends, now that we have been improperly introduced.[swg]

A GN locomotive. Not a bad idea. Modelers of the Hill lines have been getting scrood for years in all scales. I'd like to see Mike come up with some of that stuff in O gauge. GN, NP, SP&S (Heck, SP&S is my favorite western road.)
