TMCC Lost Programming?
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, July 12, 2007 8:04 AM

When my engine is in a block section that is isolated my TMCC programming is lost when power is turned off completely to that section. Can I use a 20 watt, 8-ohm resistor will it help since the track will continue to get power but not enough for the engine to move? This should be enough juice to keep the TMCC programming.

Renovo, are you saying a TMCC equipped engine is losing its programming on a section of unpowered isolated track?  If so, something is wrong with the TMCC engine.

My engines set sometimes for days without power, and they do not lose the programming.

BTW, I think you may live four hours east of me, three hours east of Blueberry.  If you are heading west on I-70 sometime, give me a shout and invite you to sit on the deck and watch the trains. Smile [:)]

If you cut power to a track section, the loco is going to power down, period.  There was a trick used to stop PW E-units from recycling on power cuts.  You used a high current low ohm resistor to keep some current in the track to prevent the E-unit from droping out.   A TMCC loco doesn't require this.  If you want it to stop, just address the loco and dial down the speed.  If you cut power to the block, the loco will shut down.  WHen you reapply power, the loco comes back up like when you first applied power.
