In need of help with New Layout power!!!!
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, July 9, 2007 1:14 AM

 Hey All,

I am semi new to the O scale model railroading hobby and had some questions.

I have been collecting (gathering) new and old Lionel and MTH trains for about a year now and would like to start a layout in the next few weeks. I am quite confused as to which dirrection I should go with transformers and such. I have many old Steamers as well as many new Diesels that have more options than my transformers will opperate. My newest due to price is the Lionel CW-80. I know, not one of the best but I am willing to upgrade, but do not at this time have the money for the Lionel Command control and am looking for something that will opperate both Lionel and MTH sounds that they have. Am I missing something with the CW-80? Or do I need something else. Should I upgrade to an MTH Transformer or Lionel? I will only be starting with One train per track and do not need Command Control. I would like to make this a pleasurable experience and not spend my life savings if you know what I mean!!! My wife made that very clear!!!! My newest Train has Proto 2.0 and the oldest/newer is a Lionel with the (i believe Railsounds with Crewtalk) which I have yet to hear. YES, I have been reading and searching the forums for a week or so and have not come up with anything solid yet. Any advice or responce would be appreciated greatly. I loved reading all of the forums that I have been through and have learned quite a bit. Thanks again and have a great summer

I think you need to go over to the Classic Toy Trains forum because you can get better results over there.
