1218 N&W - First off--->.
I had the pleasure of riding behind the 1218 from Richmond to Roanoke back in the late 80's (right after the rebuild). It had a distinctive sound, and a real moan to it's whistle. Too bad there are no Graham Claytors in the NS hierarchy any more.
I Have the Video and that is the ONLY ONE I WATCH!!!
What a waste of two of the finest steam locomotives ever built and rebuilt. Being from Pennsylvania, I still hold onto the possibility (dream) of them pulling horseshoe curve.
If NS only had the operating mentality of UP.
Who do you mean with "they" and what do you mean with "what did they do"? Do you could tell us your age? Do we have to do with a little Newbie?
I'm not sure what that meant either.
I believe it is in the Virginia Museum of Transportation.
