Hello friends,
I have a few questions concerning a credible paint job of a WABASH J-1 class 4-6-2 steam locomotive. The model I intend to paint (after some superdetailing) is of the modernized version - that means with a cast pilot, Worthington feed water heater, hidden sand lines, and probably other details differing from the original composition. I want to paint it black. Does anyone of you know if
-the cab roof was red or black
-the cab window sashes were black or another colour
-there were any striping like running board edges and/or wheel tires, and if so, which colour
-the lettering was white or aluminium
-the characteristic flag would be correct on the tender sides, and if so, where exactly?
I hope anybody can help.
Thank you.
Jim,
Thanks again for your help. Yes WABASH did have blue painted 4-6-2s. These were all of the J-1 class, and only three of them. I already have a blue painted one. These had dulux striping and lettering, looks beautyful. Few weeks ago I got a cheap second one unpainted and therefore want to paint it black - as most of them were. Now I think I know what I have to know to start the project.
