Delaware & Hudson #607. Where's the location?

Any idea where this photo was taken of the D&H 4-6-2? My cousin would have taken it in the late 40s or early 50s.

Thanks!

You know, your cousin was one hell of a photographer, even if he did cut off the back half of the tender in this shot.  His color photos from the steam age are very sharp.  Was he ever published?

As to the location I have no idea.  All I know is it's a good photo of a very ugly locomotive.

The panel truck appears to have a license plate with white or yellow numbers on a dark back ground.  On the right edge of the photo over truck with open door, looks to be a street/road sign with a rectangle over an oval shape. Any of this ring a bell with viewers in PA or NY?

Anyway, thanks for sharing the photo!

The trackage looks as though it's elevated over the surrounding neighborhood. This narrows it down to possibly being near this, and many other D&H locomotive's, birthplace, Schenectady, just north of the Schenectady station. Problem: I do not believe this to be possible, since D&H passenger trains didn't use this route from the '30s until after 1968. Then, too it might be along the Main into Albany, south of Colonie shops, or up near Mechanicville, both areas had some grade crossing elimination projects completed prior to and just after WWII. And the bridge abutment looks new.

That sign does appear to be a New York state route sign.

After looking at Virtual earth, here is my best guess: South Central Ave overpass (RR's perspective) in Mechanicville NY.
