50+ year old Lionel that needs parts

Buy a copy of "Classic Toy Trains".  You will find dozens of dealer adds for EVERY part you would ever need to repair or rebuild a 50 year old Lionel.

      Actually you would do much better at the Classic Toy Trains forum, this forum is actually for 12 inch to the foot scale trains. But all may not be lost, My Daughter, Son-in-Law and Granddaughter are in kenai right now visiting my Daughter's Mother, I had gotten my S-I-L hooked on Lionel about a year and a half ago. I happened to be talking to them on the phone earlier today, and Matt mentioned that when they were in Anchorage Tues/Wednesday he stopped at a hobby shop, they didn't carry O-Gauge , Matt did say that there was one in Anchorage that specializes in O-Gauge, he didn't have time to find it, and he didn't remember the name, but check the yellow pages in the phone book, they may be able to help You. I realize that Anchorage and Kenai are about 3.5 hours apart by car, but well, You're in Alaska, it is BEAUTIFUL but not having an LHS (local hobby shop) just down the street is just one of the costs of living in AK. (sorry about that friend)

    Matt doesn't have any of his trains up there, but did mention that he was suffering from with-drawls. I'm sure that he would enjoy meeting a fellow Lionel nut. If You would like to email me at [e-mail]  I would be happy to call him and give him your phone#.

    Anyhow, Welcome to the forums and the hobby, I got bit by the O-Gauge virus myself, but Fortunately, even though it can be VERY contagious, it is rarely Dangerous. (unless your Wife, catches you buying more trains, then all bets are OFF, and may she have Mercy on You)

Just acquired brothers O gauge Lionel, which is at least 50+ years old, and most of the wiring is rotten and falling apart on the engins, cars, & switches.  Most of the engins, cars, switches, and accesories are in original boxes but the half of the light bulbs are burned out or missing.  Can't find them at the Lionel web site.  Looking for help on where to go since I am new at this model trains and a new member to Trains.com.  I am still trying to catalog all that I have now and know that I will have a ton of questions in the future.  I live in Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula and would like to find someone in this area as well.
