More People Using Rail
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, March 10, 2007 3:47 AM

I just returned from St. Louis, where I rode their Light Rail extensively.  Although there were a lot of people on it, there were a lot more people in cars on the road.  At night, there were very few riders on the MetroLink.

So how do we get more people to ride the rails?

Have the drivers get stuck in traffic jams for a while (EASILY done here in the Northeast) in an area where the tracks are visible from the road and the drivers can see the trains zipping by.

I was thinking of something more extraordinary.  In the book (or movie) "War of the Worlds", all the cars stopped working at once.  Maybe there's an invention that could accomplish this.  On a similar note, I love to pass a large line of cars on my bicycle.

Another way is to quit voting Conservative or Republican, they seem to only wan't auto's and trucks and pollution, they don't care about the environment!

Well I've certainly done my job in that regard.  I've only voted for one Republican since I started voting over 30 years ago, and that was in a local election.  And I knew the guy!
