Diesel Quiz part ate (8)

Nickel Plate & Wabash along with Pittsburgh & West Virginia were assimilated into Norfolk & Western. So, some NKP, PWV and Wabash questions.

Both Nickel Plate and Wabash bought GP7s and GP9s for passenger service, much to N&W's relief. Now, both Nickel Plate and Wabash had bought Alco PAs, whose were retired first and which road bought a PA carbody from Alco that had come from their future merger partner to repair a wrecked PA? And, was the work finished?Mischief [:-,]

Of the roads listed above which bought RS3s, RS11s and RS36s,and RSD12s ?

Fairbanks Morse found a good customer in all of these roads. Now, which model(s) did two of the three buy from FM?

One of the FM buyers re-powered their FM road switchers in a very strange and short lived fashion, who did that?

Baldwin got road unit/road switcher orders from two of these roads, but neither were happy with them. Which one sold their Baldwin road or road switcher unit(s) and which one re-powered their AS16s (Sign - Oops [#oops] That's a major clue)?

All three bought Baldwin switchers true or false.

The only answer I think I know was the one about the RS-3, RS-11, etc. and I believe that was N&W.

1 - NKP's were the first to go.  #181 was the one that donated carbody parts to repair the wrecked Wabash PA.

2 - That would be the NKP.

3 - The NKP and Wabash both had H-10 and H-12-44's.

4 - Wabash repowered their Train Masters with Alco 251's.

5 - P & WV sold theirs, and NKP repowered their 4 AS's with Alco 251's and EMD 567's {two to each builder, respectively}.

6 - True, and I did!!!!!!Big Smile [:D]

NKP had RS3s and RS11s, and probably RSD12s.  I think the switch to RS36 came after the merger.  Not many RS36s built to begin with.

Wabash had H24-66 Train Masters.  I think the P&WV had H20-44 end-cab roadswitchers.

NKP also bought RS36's, which became N&W 2865-2875, two of which were equipped with steam generators.

WAB also rebuilt one of its Baldwin switchers to a calf after a yard accident.
