American Flyer Circus Train
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, February 10, 2007 3:09 PM
From reading this forum I found that most "found them in the attic trains" aren't worth much. Hopefully my situation is different. I have a 1950 American Flyer Circus set. It is complete and in the original box. I am missing 2 of the animal cages, and the transformer, if it came with one. The outside box as well as the individual car boxes are in rough shape. I just had a hobby shop look at the train and they said they almost never see one in as good of condition as mine. I received it as a kid in the mid 1970's and never used it (probably since it didn't have a transformer), so it has been in a trunk since then. The person told me it had barely been used. This is apparently important, but I have all the cardboard cutouts and they are all unpunched. Dut to their age, a couple have fallen out, but I think they are all there. A similar set just sold on ebay for over $7000 but it was the exact one from the greenberg book, and it had red flats whereas mine has yellow ones. I will probably try to sell it on ebay, but I am curious what kind of reserve to put on it. I have never sold anything on ebay, just bought stuff for my kids, so if anyone has any advice, I would really appreciat it. I have pictures if that would help. Thanks
