Matt, That's what I get for believing what I hear in dubbed sound videos! I've looked at Pics of them and you have it right. They kept their WABCOs, despite an attempt to purloin one in their Michigan hideout.

Now, D&H did fix the occasional Valley C628 that had come in ailing on NE84. They were really good on Alcos, so they could get a balky snowbird/white elephant up and running in time to catch NE87!
Allrightythen. Well, the U30Cs DID have dual controls (Thank N&W for that) But, c'mon! Remember the question? What did the last Alcos (C628s) and first GE's have in common (U30Cs) I can't believe any of you haven't got that "best answer" yet.
Just for fun now another question which NH PA was the parts queen for the D&H? NH 0723 was a DL109, it would have been a parts source for their surviving S4s, but 0723 was scrapped quite a while before D&H bought the PAs from Santa Fe.

D&H 17 lacked the trim piece behind the cab door, making it look like a PA3. All of the PA's got 251 engines when D&H had them rebuilt.
The first Alco model on D&H was the S2, which was also the first to become extinct.
The first non-Alco (U30C's) had dual-controls.
I'll give it an uneducated go. The first Alco was an RS-1, the last being the C-628's. I believe the C-628's were also the first retired. Not sure which model, (want to say U28B) but it was a GE, and they had the same traction motors, as did most early GE's and Alco's. I think PA No. 19. One of them rode on C-628 trucks from wreck, didn't it? As far as a fourth, probably bought for parts.
D&H picked up 12 C420 from the Lehigh Valley, 404-415. They would have been CR 2060-2071.
20 GP39-2 from Reading, 3401-3420, which became D&H 7401-7420 (CR 3400-3419).
12 LV GP38-2, 314-325, D&H 7314-7325 (CR 8163-8174).
D&H already had 20 GP39-2, beginning 3-76, 7601-7620.
Well, since D&H crept into an otherwise Lehigh Valley set of questions, let us now delve into some D&H, both pre-and post 1976.
