For a full answer, see my post on the "British Railway Operations" thred on the Railroads forum.
Basically the prototype Deltic was deisgned with export in mind but no orders ever materialised.
One of the best books about the Deltics, which includes a lot of info about proposed designs which never made if off the drawing board, is "The Deltic diesel locomotives of British Rail" by Brian S. Webb which was published in about 1977, but has been out of print for a long time. Perhaps you might be able to find a copy on ebay.
is it true or not,was the deltic designed for work in the states ? was it a political decision not to have them ? if they did would more have been built ?
help !!!!!!
