NYC Gardenville yard

Was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of any photos, maps, or other written info out there on the NYC Gardenville, NY Yards & Branch Lines besides the pics published in "The 50 Best of The New York Central" and the yard map printed by the WNYRHS seen at the last Hamburg train show? I heard a rumor that there might have been an article published by the NYC Hist. Soc. ? Also, are there any NYC forums out there ?  Thanks in advance.

I too, would like to know. This area has not been well documented during the time that the Gardenville yards were in use. I wonder if Gardenville made it into any of the historic NYC publicity films of the early '40s. Some believe it was in "The Freight Yard" others, say that that footage is from DeWitt. Anyone know?

I'm pretty sure I saw this video. There was a train being humped with a large girder bridge right before the hump & hump tower. They show some views from the apex of the hump looking back at the tower and also into the yard. If that's the same video, no that's not Gardenville. The humps were farther away from the bridges than that.

A good place to start is with the maps & aerials at

http://nyc.railfan.net/buffalo/

for 1950-ish topo maps and aerials or at

http://www.erie.gov/depts/community/highways_aerial.phtml

for 1920 and 1950 aerials.

Yahoo Groups has a very nice New York Central forum, along with a Penn Central board as well.  Just bring lots of black and green paint!
