To my understanding, yes, there's been an official name change.  Catellus renamed it.  See

Could it be that you refer to LOS ANGELES UNION PASSENGER TERMINAL(LAUPT)?  Has there been an official name change?

A large collection of information and documents of interest to researchers regarding the development and construction of LA Union Station has been donated to the libraries of the University of Southern California and is now available to serious scholars.  See link below for news release:
