Chicago-Los Angeles: ATSF, CNW-UP, RI-SP
Chicago-Denver: CB&Q, CNW-UP, RI
Chicago-Milwaukee: CNW, MILW, CNS&M
The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

The Gulf Mobile and Ohio (former Alton line), the Illinois Central, and the Wabash all competed for the Chicago-St. Louis passenger market back in the pre-Amtrak era. (I hope I didn't leave anybody out.)

Where else could you see heavy competition for passengers in US, like those I mentioned in "Subject"?
