Here's a 1950 list of NYC-served mines in Clearfield county along with some information about cleaning plants, etc.

Pennsylvania - Clearfield County

Bailey Coal Company - Bailey Mine (Strip) - Winburn, PA - NYC

Boron Bros. Coal Company - Mt. Vernon No 1 (Strip) - Bald Hill, PA - NYC

Bradford Coal Company

Aurora No. 4 Mine - Shawsville, PA - NYC
Aurora No. 4 had mining machines and “motors.”
Preparation facilities included a crusher and picking tables

Aurora No. 5 (Drift and strip) - Frenchville, PA - NYC
This mine’s preparation plant had a crusher and picking tables

Cooper Smokeless No. 2 Mine (Strip) - Morrisdale, PA - NYC
This mine had a shovel, a dragline, and a tractor
Preparation equipment included crushers, bar screens, a picking table, and loading booms. It used truck haulage.

Shannon Smokeless No. 1 - Rowles, PA - NYC
Preparation machinery was a vibrating screen, picking table, and loading boom.

Shannon Smokeless No. 2 - New Florence, PA - NYC
This mine had crushers and a picking table

F.R. and H.L. Harrington - Harrington No. 1 Mine - Karthaus, PA - NYC
Equipment included two cutting machines and two trolley locomotives
Preparation plant had a crusher, shaking and vibrating screens, and picking tables

Hawk Run Coal Mining - Coaldale Mines(Strip) - Hawk Run, PA - NYC

Hill Bros. Coal Company - Hill No. 7 Mine (Strip) - Allport, PA - NYC/PRR

Howard Coal Mining - Lost Run Mine (Strip) - Olanta, PA - NYC
Equipment included shovels, dozer, draglines, and trucks
Preparation facilities included oil spray, crusher, shaker screens, and loading booms.

Hyland Coal Co. - Hyland No. 1 Mine(Strip) - McClure Siding, PA - NYC
Equipment included, shovels, dozers, draglines, and trucks.
Preparation facilities were a crusher, shaker screens, and picking table.

Junedale Coal Company - Cloverleaf No. 2 Tipple - Grassflat, PA - NYC
This operation had vibrating screens, a crusher, picking table, and loading booms. In 1950 a 1500 ton-per day cleaning plant was under construction.

K&R Coal - Ogle #9 Mine - Winburne, PA - NYC
Ogle No. 9 had 2 locomotives and 100 mine cars.

Kristianson and Johnson Coal Co. - Krist and Johnson Mines - Munson, PA - NYC/PRR

Morrisdale Coal Mining Co.

Cunard Slope Mine - Hawk Run, PA - NYC
This mine had four mining machines and six conveyors. Haulage equipment included trolley locomotives, a pair of chain conveyors, and wooden mine cars. Preparation facilities included a crusher, vibrating and bar screens, a picking table, and loading boom.

Maxton Slope Mine - Hawk Run, PA - NYC
Maxton had mining machines and shaker conveyors. Haulage was handled by trolley locomotives using steel mine cars, chain conveyors, and belt conveyors.
Preparation equipment was Baum jogs, a crusher, vibrating and shaking screens, a picking table, and loading booms.

Maxton No. 2 Mine - Hawk Run, PA - NYC
This mine ran coal with mining machines, shaker conveyors, and duckbills. Haulage was handled by trolley locomotives using steel mine cars, chain conveyors, and belt conveyors.
Coal from Maxton No. 2 was cleaned at Maxton Slope’s plant.

Moshannon Falls Mining Co. - Mt. Carmel No. 1 Mine - Karthaus, PA - NYC

Peale, Peacock, and Kerr, Inc. - Victor No. 19 (Strip and Underground) - Rowles, PA - NYC
This mine had four mining machines. Preparation facilities included a breaker, grizzly screens, and a picking table.

Pennsylvania Coal and Coke Corp. - Pennsylvania No. 46 - Winburne, PA - NYC
The preparation plant had a heavy media washer, a crusher, shaker screens, and a picking table.

Woolridge Coal Vo. - Woolridge No. 2, Orchard No. 6 Mines - Woodland, PA - NYC
This operation six two mining machines, conveyors, and four haulage locomotives. Coal was cleaned at a plant that used shaker screens.

You can see that some of these properties were jointly served by the P Company.

Does anyone have any info on the NYC and the Clearfield Bituminous Coal Co. operations in Western Pa? I am
particularly interested in the Rossiter Pa mining operation. If my memory is correct I believe this is part of the NYC
Beech Creek Division.

Does anyone have any info on the NYC and the Clearfield Bituminous Coal Co. operations in Western Pa? I am
particularly interested in the Rossiter Pa mining operation. If my memory is correct I believe this is part of the NYC
Beech Creek Division.
