Travelling through wilderness

Which US long distance passenger train ran (or still runs?) through the most unpopulated, emptiest and loneliest areas in the USA???

In my opinion, it´s the Sunset Limited. From a little behind San Antonio all the way to Los Angeles, there´s almost nothing than desert. El Paso and Tucson are the only bigger towns along the route, so you really have long runs through wilderness before reaching the next town.
A runner up to the Sunset could be the Empire Builder. Between Fargo and Spokane there is also a big area where almost no one lives.

I would include the Alaska Railroad as well.

The Pioneer and the Desert Wind are two former Amtrak trains that would qualify.

Well, the ARR trains are #1 in this category, no doubt. But actually I wanted to focus on trains between the Canadian and Mexican border.
But anyway, you´re absolutely right. There´s no less populated area in the US than in Alaska.
