SP Obs Questions

Recently bought a slide collection, which included shots of the 4449 1984 trip to/from Dallas. Does anyone know the identity of the obs that was used on that train (looks very much like one of the ex-GN observations like "Going to the Sun Mountain", etc.)? For this excursion, it was painted in full "Daylight" colors, but there are no side shots, showing the name or number used on the car for that trip.

Also in the collection were slides from the May 10, 1969 Gold Spike Centennial observance. An open-platform obs lettered for "Overland Limited" with number 2902 was photographed in the Ogden station. Is this car ex-SP 2902?

The ex GN obs painted in daylight colors for the trip you refer to was Appekunny Mountain. Your question about the 2902 will take some more digging.

Thanks for the info! Did "Appekuny Mountain" have a different name/number on it for these trips?

The photo I have of Appekunny Mountain in this service shows it in full Daylight dress with the Daylight logo in middle of car beneath windows with the word Lounge below that and Apekunny Mountain in smaller letter below that. The photo shows a number I will give it my best shot with magnifying glass even with magnifying glass cannot make out the number.

Did some research on the SP 2902 and yes it is a legit SP Observation number, I haven't seen the picture of the car you refer to but its fits the SP numbering scheme.
