Shooting from the hip here, but I think the Boone Scenic Railway (outside of Ames, IA) has one of the C&NW cabs. They run it regularly with the 2 dining cars. Pretty Sure it's an F, nicely painted in the Armour yellow but looking more UP than C&NW. Somebody out there will have better info, I'm sure.

IRM (Illinois Railway Museum) has two former C&NW/RTA F7A's. C&NW 411 and Metra 308 (ex-C&NW 414).
UP's Heritage fleet E9 949 was origanilly a UP unit and was then sold to C&NW and numbered 511. It was then sold to Metra and operated there for a time. I don't know what happened to the other 4 Metra E8's that came from C&NW that were retired in 1993.

I can not swear to this but I may seen one in Nashville that is to be used for a tourist/dinner train that is proposed. Also there was a metra E at Mid america car shop in KCMO but i dont know if it was ex-C&NW.

New Jersey Transit had several F-7's which it used for awhile back in the 1980's (not for too long). I believe several are still floating around New Jersey (not running) but am not 100% sure.

It's just painted in a pseudo-CNW scheme. The engine is ex-CN.

Thanks Jeff - another little tid-bit to store away for the great trivial pursuit in-the-sky! It's amazing the geneology of some of these never-die units and what they wind up looking like!!! Happy New Year!!
