Any examples of motive power sharing during the 1950s (either steam or diesel), especialy in passenger service?

The Reading and the Central Railroad of New Jersey had several such arrangements between Philadelphia and Jersey City and between Harrisburg and Jersey City. The trains could have either RDG (Pacifics, GP7s, RS3s, AS16s, H24-66s) or CNJ (Pacifics, GP7s, RS3s, H24-66s, H15-44s) locomotives on either road.

IC diesel power on the City of Miami went through on the Central of Georgia between Birmingham and Albany, Ga. I don't know if it continued on ACL beyond.
On the South Wind, PRR diesels went through on the L&N between Louisville and Montgomery, and beyond, and on a second set of equipment, ACL diesels went through on L&N from Montgomery to Louisville and on PRR to Chicago.
I have seen C&EI diesel power on some Dixie Route passenger train in Atlanta, having run on L&N from Evansville to Nashville and on NC&StL Nashville to Atlanta.

SP UP and C&NW(later MILW) sometimes shared power on the City trains.
I have seen photos of UP and C&NW or UP and MILW power mixed on these trains.I have never seen photos of SP Daylight units on the City trains,as the railroad wanted to keep all yellow units on these trains.Milwaukee road started painting their passenger units yellow after they got the contract to handle the City trains.Also SP and RI shared power on the Golden State.

Appreciate the quick and detailed replies.

Any articles on the topic you can recommend? I'm researching for a modeling project and looking for Roads that had diversity in the motive power mix during the steam-diesel transition period.

I had a couple of further thoughts on the subject. In the late 40's or early 50's, a run-through passenger train between Albany, Ga. and Panama City, Fla., used an A&StAB steam engine on the Central of Georgia between Dothan and Albany. In other words, it ran through w/o change. Spent the night in Albany.
Also, when L&N and NC&StL began running "The Georgian" between St. Louis and Atlanta (post WWII), L&N units painted w/ both roads' initials ran through on the train on NC&StL between Nashville and Atlanta.
