Book Idea (Don't steal!)
Posted by bnsfkline on Sunday, September 11, 2005 2:47 PM
I am thinking about writing a book on special paint schemes from 1970-2006.
would anyone buy a book like this, and should I persue this book? Any information and pictures would be a great help to me.

Some of the topics covered would be:

1.)Bicentinel Locomotives of Major Railroads
2.)Olympic Units
3.)UP Heritage units
4.)Merger prototype schemes
5.)United Way/Commeritve Units
6.)Paint Scheme and Lettering Goof's
7.)Expierimental Paint Schemes
and maybe
8.) Demo Paint Schemes

Would anybody buy this book and would it be a good help to historians and Model Railroaders?

Sounds like a good idea to me. I'm not sure if it's one I'd buy but it's the type of thing that would be a wealth of info for modelers and train buffs alike. Might I suggest you check with Morning Sun books. Their format would seem to be perfect for this type of book. Good luck on your possible endeavours.

I've heard over the years several proposals for a book devoted to the bicentenial paint schemes, I don't think anyone is seriously persuing such a publication these days. Drat" what is one to do with all those bicentenial shots I took so many years ago? Though not my type of material under normal circumstances I would consider such a publication just for the historical prespective and I bet the rest of the community would be equally receptive . Definate nich you have here
