Well Holy toast! I messed that number up dont ask me why I thought it was a Pacific ! Had my eye on one to many open pages that night . My guess is model power. No offence to them but they would slap a 4005 number on a 0-4-0T then letter it Union Pacific.

Yes we are on time but this is yesterdays train

According to one friend, the locomotive model would have been produced by Mantua or Model Power...

The last RI steam engine with #407 seems to be a 2-8-0 Consolidation rebuilt and renumbered for switching service. Previous steam engines numbered 407 were 4-4-0 American types.
The 4-6-2 Pacifics were in the 800 and 900 series.

407 in RI steam would have been a 4-6-2 used in its final days in Commuter service in Chicago. Hand fired and not very big but a good looking engine. I know of one in OK one in Union Ill and one in Peoria.

First off a 0-6-0 is not a mogul but a 6 coupled swtcher. A Mogul will have a 2 wheel lead truck making it a 2-6-0
Now what make is this H.O model,Tyco, Riverossi, MDC? Or is it a brass import?
Most of the plastic were either a USRA prototype or just generic models.
Brass locos are almost always a model of a prototype.

Rock Island steam engine #407

Hello,

Here's a second question.

Among my HO models, I have a steam locomotive identified as Rock Island with the number 407. It is a 0-6-0 mogul.

Does anyone has any information about its history ? Is it in a museum ? Or recycled ?

Thank you,

François.
