Hi guys,

I´m Markus from Germany and need your opinion on some production numbers I found in a history forum.

"Lendlease to Russia:

Locomotives
(all types)
Soviet Production 442
Allied Deliveries 1966
Total 2408
Allied Proportion 81.6%

Rail cars
(all types)
Soviet Production 2635
Allied Deliveries 11,075
Total 13,710
Allied Proportion 80.7% "

Based on my experience with railroad issues and a little google search on german production figures the number 442 as the total number of locos produced in the USSR can´t be right.

By the way: How many locos were made in the US each year before the war?

Here is a site on Diesel loco production in the USA

http://membrane.com/~elmer/rail/product.html

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I don't have a leg to stand on.

Something to keep in mind with Soviet figures of the Stalin era, production is not necessarily synonymous with serviceable. We're talking about production during the Great Patriotic War and in the aftermath of the Five-Year Plans and the Stakhanovite movement.
The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul
