I would also.
Yes Dave. Agreed. I was quite young when I saw that for the first time and really envied the thought of flying off to work in foreign lands. I never worked in Africa but in Asia and the Middle East on light rail and other projects. Oh yes and one station in St Petersburg in the mad bad '90s.
If you've seen a documentary about the Ugandan Mail from Mombasa to Nairobi featuring an immaculate EAR Class 59 and her Sheikh driver from that time, Dave or anybody else for that matter i'd love to see it.
Thanks. Worth viewing for several reasons.
Reminded me of my work and times in Boputastwana, Botswana, and S. A.
Just to keep the pot boiling on the obscure British produced documentaries, here's one about a father & son team who were consultant engineers for Sudan Railways in the '80s where they rehabilitated steam locomotives.
Sorry for the first couple of minutes but it's from a very old VHS tape and the beginning was lost - perhaps a couple of mins.
If anyone has seen it in better condition elsewhere please let me know, I looked some time ago and couldn't see any reference to it. From that lost era immediate pre-internet.
