Thought this may be obscure enough to have slipped through the net. Go to 7.40

And that's nothing!  Did you realize ATSF had locomotives with Elesco feed water heaters then?? Look what's behind the door in the immediately preceding scene...!

I am amazed that in 1905 as shown at the 1:00 mark that the Santa Fe had searchlight signals for Scotty's train!  Amazed I say!

Never too old to have a happy childhood!

Went so fast there was time dilation!  That's fast for hand firing!

The Scott Special was quite a logistics exercise...

see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Special

19 different locomotives, of which 1010 was the third, were used. 1010 was a Vauclain compound with 79 inch driving wheels, rather than the 69" drivers it has today...

I had never heard of the TV series and the actor did look like Walter Scott...

Ronald Reagan was the host of Death Valley Days in the later years of the series.  Don't think the DVD stories would have translated that well to most of Australian life to warrant being imported in the 1950's when the series was on US TV.

That was one of the most enjoyable 25 minutes I've spent in a long time!  I haven't seen "Death Valley Days" since I was a little boy.  I don't remember every show but I DO remember the show itself.  We loved it!

And it was great seeing "The Old Ranger" again, although for some reason he doesn't look as old as he used to.

Hmmmmm...Hmm

Thanks for posting "Scotsman!"
