In my book Daylight Reflections (1987) on of the pages show the SP Daylight at the Central Station and the paragraph stated Although the Sp Daylight locomotives began using the new Los Angeles Union Stationin 1939, Fourteen years later rivals Santa Fe and Union Pacific dieselized their California operations, leaving SP the only steam operaton in the Golden State to a close in 1957
