I posed this for the OP over in the 'Electronics and DCC' section of the Model Railroader forums.  We have already established 'over there' that the Piko component is in fact a servo (selling at an 'insane' price for one) and that indeed a controller and other components will be necessary to make it work correctly.  One poster indicated that there are specific alternatives that would cost less and provide equal or better functionality -- some detailed versions should be up there shortly.

HI, that is me in the pic!  This was taken about 40 years ago.  At that time, I lived in Rochester, NY

tupsters

Hello, I have a Piko #55272 under the table turnout.  I read the directions and noticed that part of installing this unit, it requires a Piko #55274 switch decoder and a #55262 control panel.  I was hoping to just use a toggle switch and hook it to a power source (AC or DC - not sure which one) to operate it.  I see 3 wires (with a female prong conector) coming out of the 55272.  Is is possible to just wire it as I suggested, or do I need the other 2 items?  Thanks - John

Off topic, but is that you in your avatar pic?

And which car is that, Burrard or Bedford?

What I'd give to stand on that platform!

Greetings from Alberta

Hello tupsters!  I'm sure if anyone here can answer your question they will, but you'd be better off asking it on the "Model Railroading" Forum.

Click on "Trains.com Site" on the top of the webpage to find them.
