Did any L&N 4-8-2s went to New Orleans.
Morgan (1952) says no; they were used on the 'other' main (Cincinnati-Atlanta) because of the grades on that line, but the more important reason was that 'trestles near the Gulf' were too light for the 4-8-2s (though at least theoretically able to accommodate the 3-cylinder Pacific). So even in 'emergency' one would not be sent to New Orleans...
Those trestles along the Gulf were the reason that L&N bought E6's to handle trains with heavyweight cars (not streamliners).
