In 1988, Australia celebrated 200 years of settlement by Europeans.
In Melbourne, Victoria, a festival of steam trains was held.
The North East line, which had both broad and standard gauge tracks was used for a number of special trains. There were double broad gauge tracks to Seymour, about 60 miles from Melbourne, with a single standard gauge track on the eastern side. So if the standard gauge is on the right, the train is southbound, if it is on the left, the train is northbound.
Flying Scotsman was brought out for this event, and was joined by a number of NSW locomotives, 1210 (4-4-0), a 4-6-4 T and 3801 (4-6-2), and on broad gauge by a number of R class 4-6-4s, D3 639 (4-6-0) and a K class 2-8-0.
While the technical quality isn't up to current standards. the camerawork and editing is really good.
