Michael Landry's Dad and my own Dad
Posted by daveklepper on Thursday, September 12, 2019 3:08 PM

Dr. Julius I. Klepper, my Dad, first, seated at the front of the 1st car with Panema hat, then at the controls of the 2nd Connecticut Company “Yale Bowl” open car, on Hemingway Street, end of useful track, not far from Branford Electric Railway Association’s Shore Line Trolley Museum, on a 2-car National Ry. Historical Society 30 June 1947 fan-trip.  My Dad was for me that Mike Landry’s Dad was for him.  I was 15 when I took the pictures, with a prewar Leica D sold our family by a refugee.

And it must have been a fun trip, everyone looks like they're having a good time!

We've got to get Mike working on finding the Holy Grail, I don't think there's anything he can't find!

He has it already, sitting on a mantle.

I wondered if the Landry-the-father picture of his 11-year-old son, Michael, may have faded during the yeas, and what would Microsoft Photo Editor say if left to its own automatic devices.  So attached, via Imgur, is what MS says about this really great picture.

Now THAT is a truly classic photograph!  It says so much!

You can find the whole story by looking under "The Way It Was" and then "Railfan Stories."
