Spring Issue memories
Posted by loosecaboose73 on Monday, February 25, 2019 2:30 PM

I just received the spring issue. Thanks for the memories. I hired on the Uncle Pete in April 1973 at Kansas City, KS. My first road student trip was to Salina KS on a “whirlybird”. Had many more trips on them. One day the trip back from Marysville, Ks was made on a DD35. Not long after that trip, I caught the UP 61, Alco C855. Talk about making smoke! Rode a 6900 one time. It reminded me of my ship in the Navy, an LST because they both rocked from side to side. Now I know that my favorite was a failure, but I rode the U50C’s many times. I liked working the 5000’s. I have a number board of the 5015. Thanks for the memories.
