Not at all.., we must get the historical record right! What is its particular distinction?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1957_Chevrolet

We only had Bel Air four door sedans in Australia, with maybe a few four door wagons. These were pretty much top of the GM line, above the much smaller Holden sedans and wagons.

But the 1957 broke from the earlier cars with their taller fins and more contemporary styling.

Peter

1955 introduced the now legendary SBC - Small Block Chevy V8 - with a displacement of 265 cu.in.  Subsequently the engine remains in production to this day with various design modifications and displacement increases.  Over its years of production the SBC has become the core powerplant of the motorsports community.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!

Nitpicking I guess, but that Chev is a '56.

In that case find a picture of the Diesel in the London yard and post it!

GeoffS-- I'm sure the shiny new Diesel is lurking about somewhere out of camera range, or else the 0-6-0 would not be in that state. Who wants to see that anyway.

I'd rather see the diesel at work.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

Based on the snow, I'd guess it was stuck at the grade crossing.  They were a bit rough in those days.

Trains, trains, wonderful trains.  The more you get, the more you toot!  Big Smile

Penny-- Looks as if the driver could have survived that but safety features back then were non existent.. no sear belts and the law of physics takes over with lots of ancillary sharp metal objects flying around. Hopefully no one was badly hurt.

That's OK.  It could have been a shiny new diesel in the picture!

1957. O-6-0 # 6277 days are numbered with stack capped, looking a bit dusty, contrasts sharply with brand new shiny '57 Chevy with one heck of a hood ornament.

6277 with brand new canvas covering stack indicates recently taken out of service.

We saved one U3e # 6275

Preserved at Huron County Pioneer Museum, Goderich.
