1955 introduced the now legendary SBC - Small Block Chevy V8 - with a displacement of 265 cu.in. Subsequently the engine remains in production to this day with various design modifications and displacement increases. Over its years of production the SBC has become the core powerplant of the motorsports community.

I'd rather see the diesel at work.
Based on the snow, I'd guess it was stuck at the grade crossing. They were a bit rough in those days.

Penny-- Looks as if the driver could have survived that but safety features back then were non existent.. no sear belts and the law of physics takes over with lots of ancillary sharp metal objects flying around. Hopefully no one was badly hurt.

Shiny '57 Chevy with one heck of a hood ornament.
1957. O-6-0 # 6277 days are numbered with stack capped, looking a bit dusty, contrasts sharply with brand new shiny '57 Chevy with one heck of a hood ornament.
6277 with brand new canvas covering stack indicates recently taken out of service.
