What is the difference and benefits of the lifting vs non lifting injectors?
Thank you very Much
Paul
I assume that a Non Lifting injector uses less steam for a given quantity of water injected, since all the energy is used in forcing the water into the boiler. Given the popularity of exhaust steam injectors (which I think are all non lifting) reduced steam use was regarded as important.
Non Lifting injectors must be located below water tank level, usually at the rear of the locomotive below the cab, so its operation can be monitored by the crew.

Wait for it to load, it will take a bit. Scroll down to #39 and you should find your answer. The rest is good reading too.
