Does anyone know why it appears that the web site has not been updated since 2010?

A 1967 article in TRAINS, "A Twist on Tuscan Red", includes a side-level view of a proposed car for New York-Washington service similar in appearance to SAL's solarium cars.
The "windows-in-the-roof" Seaboard Airline lounge cars were an attempt to provide some semblence of a dome-car for restricted-clearance trains into Penn Station, for the Silver Meteor and Silver Star. I believe one survives as a private owner car.

As an aside, perhaps, I cannot see calling a car that does not provide straight ahead or straight behind vision a "dome' car. Thus, VIA's Panorama cars are not dome cars, even though they do provide more vision above. The long and semi-long (SP) cars do fit the description, for they do provide limited vision ahead and to the rear.

During the glory days of post WW II streamliners, the Dome Car was one of the featured enhancements to the trains operating through scenic territories. The following web site http://trainweb.org/web_lurker/WebLurkersDOMEmain/ is devoted to those cars.
