7). February 1, 1968 - New York Central merges with Pennsylvania Railroad to form Penn Central
8). April 1, 1976 - Conrail formed to take over Penn Central
9). April 1976 - Amtrak to provide local passenger service.
10). June 1976 - Effort to claim missing Canada Southern assets.
11). January 31, 1979 - Last through passenger train operated - Amtrak Niagara Rainbow. ( well that didn't last very long)
12). July 26, 1979 - Conrail announces cancellation of last through freight train
13) May 1, 1985 - CN & CP takeover.
14). June 1, 1985 - Chessie moves trains operating between Windsor and St.Thomas to CASO rails.
15). March 1996 - CSX moves trains off CASO to CN rails
16). 2001 - Leamington branch removed
17). December 19, 2001 - Mainline in downtown Niagara Falls removed.
18). 2003 - Mainline between Attercliffe and St. Thomas removed.
19). 2005 - Most of remaining trackage in St. Thomas yard removed ( except some tracks left for the Elgin County Railway Museum ).
20). 2006 - Mainline between St. Thomas and Fargo removed.
21). 2009 - MCRR shop building and some yard trackage at St. Thomas sold to Elgin County Railway Museum.
22). May 17th, 2011 - Last recorded revenue train on the Fargo-Windsor trackage
23). 2012 - November-December - Mainline between Fargo and Windsor removed.

I owned 35 acres of Carolinian Forest about 10 minutes away from here, had a small house on it, sold it and came to Northern Saskatchewan 7 years after the rails were gone..The End
