Sounds cool!  Don't know what I'll be doing in March ( or April) but if I'm up that way I'll make a point of seeing the exhibit!

Sorry I missed the one in Fair Lawn.

Wayne, If you are up this way in March I will be having an exhibit on the NJ & NY and the Erie at the Oradell Library during March ( maybe even April, too)

Ah, Paramus, my old home town!  Sadly, it's a town the Erie missed, but with an Erie line to the east and one to the west, it's not so bad.

If you haven't done so yet, visit the Fritz Behnke Museum on Paramus Road, a fun museum of Paramus history, and while there, don't miss the "Egg-O-Matic" demonstration!  Your life won't be complete until you see the "Egg-O-Matic!"  It made Lady Firestorm's day when she saw it!  The museum's open Sunday afternoons from 1:00 to 5:00.

Maybe you know about this already, but there's a fun head-end ride video of the Pascack Valley Line available from www.train-video.com, select "Rairoad Video Prod DVD."  It was shot around 1991, but the video quality is excellent, the engineer's very talkative and engaging, and things haven't changed too much along the line since the video was shot.  I watched it about a dozen times the week after I bought it!

Wayne, I live in Paramus now, just about on the Oradell Border. Oradell Station and the Pascack Valley Line are my new "home station" and road. I still work at the Waldwick Tower Museum and still see the old Erie main quite a bit. I will never be far from the Erie.

It's a classic, and you don't mess with a classic, that is, if you've got good taste and common sense.

I'm also surprised to see the building just behind the station is still there.  I know where that building is, and I'm also surprised it goes back at least to 1910.  It does appear that the building to the right of the station is "gone with the wind."

pajrr, I know from your previous posts you lived in Fair Lawn, but were moving.  Do you live in Oradell now?  Just curious.

Wayne

What A Difference A Century Doesn't Make

What a difference a century "DOESN'T" make. Here is a photograph of the Erie Train Station in Oradell, NJ taken in 1910. I duplicated the shot yesterday. Except for the vegetation and some minor accessories, nothing has changed in the 108 years in between the two photographs.
