Might hav been with you on one of those trips, also in the observation car!
My neck of the woods. My dad would take me on a round trip from Cairo to Fulton Ky on The City of New Orleans, just for the heck of it. Always rode in the observation car. Circa early 1960's.
Posting the two pix again, since they don't show up on my screen at the moment and may be giving others problems as well:
March, 1970, northbound City of Miami at Ohio River briddge south of Cairo. IC, Seabord, Southern, and CofG equipment in consist!
Later, same trip, CofM at right, City of New Orleans at left, both sbout two hours late, at Carbondalte, IL. Note E-6 still running in 1970, heading the CofNO.
