According to an article in the Rutland Historical Society Quarterly, The Addison Branch was cut back from Larabee's Point in 1951, but parts of the branch survived for 10 years more. The branch was famous for the long bridge across Lake Champlain with a pontoon swing span.

The discussion below sent me googling "Rutland Railroad Addison Branch". I came across a model layout of a Green Rutland Alco on the branch. Of course, I'm sure that branch was the one part of the Rutland that never saw a diesel. The branch shut down in May of 1951. The picture in Jim Shaughnessy's book shows the last mixed pulled by an ancient 4-6-0.
Of course, in a model layout, one may take liberties. I'm just more into the real thing. To each his own.
