Silver Chateau was retired after wreck damage in 1977, sold for conversion to an office car in 1979, work was not completed and the car was scrapped.

All:

Dave Klepper and I have a question if the two 1956 Denver Zephyr dome obs cars (Silver Chateau and Silver Veranda) were saved after Amtrak. "Amtrak by the Numbers"  shows the Chateau retired in 1977 and the Veranda for sale in 1993.
