You might want to try to find some of the locomotive prints of the late Alvin F. Stauffer of Medina, Ohio.
He made quite a few charcoal or watercolor (?) drawings of many popular locomotives and they ran about 12" bt 36" or so.

Why didn't you get the nine-foot version?
Hello again. Firstly a big thank you to all who have respoded. I followed the various suggestions and I may have found what I am looking for on the "Schrader's Railroad Catalog" page.

I'll keep searching - Cheers
Have you considered simply finding a photo, diagram, or drawing of exactly what you want and taking it to a commericial establishment that makes blow-ups? They can turn a 3 x 5 photo into a huge poster (or banner, or billboard).
Do a web search for "Schrader's Railroad Catalog". I think they used to have some large posters. Search their site for "Prints" (not "Posters"... I think their site stinks as far a 'user friendlyness' goes... I had nothing but long waits and trouble using it!)

Since no-one else has responded let me hazard a guess.
I don't know of any direct source of what you're looking for but a good place to start would be the gift shops of the various big rail museums here in the US. I'd try the B&O Museum, the California State Railroad Museum, the Colorado Railroad Museum, and so forth for a start. You never know.
Hope this helps.
Hi there, recently I bought a fantastic 54" long poster of a Union Pacific Big Boy. The poster was what I call a 'profile' or 'press' photo in that it is taken exactly side on (sometimes multiple shots cropped together) so that you can see the whole locomotive evenly and in great detail(without anything else in the picture).' I often see smaller images of the same nature (be it as a drawing, photo or diagram) in various railroading books - usually accompanied with information about the locomotive. Now I find myself really wanting other posters of this type as there are a number of 'giant' locomotives that I would also like to hang on my wall; I would love to have an Alleghany, Yellowstone or a Cab-forward for example. Can anyone here point me in the right direction of a website or store that may sell these types of 'long' locomotive posters/prints? Thank you in advance - all the way from Australia!
