Need help with Postwar motor
Posted by NormL on Monday, December 30, 2013 8:36 AM
I have a motor truck made for an Alco AA that isn't working properly. I have it wired w/o an e-unit in order to trouble shoot it and have wired it according to the diagram for a motor w/o an e unit. One wire from the coil is attached to the brush connection, the other end of the coil is attached to ground. When I apply power to the ground and the brush not connected to the coil, it just buzzes, but doesn't turn. However, if I remove the grounded coil wire from the ground (so it is no longer grounded) and apply power to that wire and the brush not connected to the coil (as above, but with the coil not grounded), the motor runs perfectly. Any suggestions? Thanks.
