SPV's Atlas mentions in the Introduction that on "abandoned" lines the track may still remain in place. The Trains map Henry refers to, shows the line "out of service" from Bangor to the Ellsworth area, and then the tourist operation from there to Washington Jct.

See Trains Dec 2013 for map comparison 1954 to today pp38-39. Some is in beyond Bangor...
RIDEWITHMEHENRY is the name for our almost monthly day of riding trains and transit in either the NYCity or Philadelphia areas including all commuter lines, Amtrak, subways, light rail and trolleys, bus and ferries when warranted. No fees, just let us know you want to join the ride and pay your fares. Ask to be on our email list or find us on FB as RIDEWITHMEHENRY (all caps) to get descriptions of each outing.
According to SPV's atlas of New England and Maritime Canada (1999), you can still get to Bangor--but no closer.

Can anyone tell me how much of the north end of the Bar Harbor Express route is still in operation?
