Just guessing because the Alaska RR seemed to be veritably the last resort that a bunch of govt raiload stuff visited that....

..and was owned and operated by the U.S. Army at one point!

Atlantic Coast Line - they rebuilt them into business cars.

SP converted several WWII era cars to Baggage Dorms, used on Overland Route trains.  Korean war era hospital cars, never used by the Army, ended up in Amtrak ownership in 1973 where they were converted to Baggage Dorms and some very nice lounge cars.

I believe Railway Express utilized them. DL&W and some others used them, too, but for work cars complete with kitchens, etc.

Which railroad, other than the Monon, used ex-U.S. Army hospital cars to modernize its postwar passenger service?
