I thank you, Dave....but I am throwing out things, selling things, and otherwise getting rid of things at this point...I am trying to do it in a civilized and intelligent manner as opposed to my wife's concept of shoveling it all into a garbage bin.  But I do appreciate the offer.

I knew Dick and several of his friends and crew members; never rode with them but did get a tour of the car at one time.  It was kept for service at DeWitt station in Syracuse, NY.  One of its regular runs was in late fall: deadhead to Boston then to Penn Station, NY to pick up two dogs and carry them to someplace in Florida then deadhead back to Syracuse. In Spring, deadhead to Florida, pick up the dogs, carry to Penn Sta, deadhead to Boston to Syracuse.  Seems like the dogs didn't like flying with the mistress so she made arrangements for the car and the trip.  With no West Side connection into NYP at the time, the only commercial choice (i.e. passenger train route service) was via Boston.

Lehigh Valley 353 Mug
Posted by daveklepper on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 4:43 AM

Dispairing of getting a replacement for my shattered cup from Richard Horstmann's 353, after i was given a new mug of identacle outside base color, I printed out a memory-produced version of the logo and Scotch-taped it to the mug.   Looks fine.  When it starts to look shabby and obvious, I can reprint and replace.

If anyone who was a freind of Richard Horstmann wants a copy, email me at www.daveklepper@yahoo.com, and I will attach the 353.jpg file on return mail.   No. charge, of course.
