Everyone Has a Story
Posted by SantaFeJoe on Saturday, June 16, 2012 10:24 AM

My son has a school project about writing about Train Travel.

What I told him was write a short story about train travel experience.

If you have a story about when you traveled as a young person on any of

the passenger trains can you share a brief account Thank you and we will let you know in the Fall how it

works out

Thanks

SantaFeJoe,

why don´t you let your son have his own train travel experience, instead of searching for one you can copy  use as input for his project?

Go on a train ride with him and let him find out himself!

I don't have any stories of my own, but let me suggest an absolutely wonderful book of some of the best train travel stories I've ever read.  It's called "All Aboard for Christmas"  by Christopher Jennison, published in 2004 by Harry N. Abrams Books  (www.abramsbooks.com)  100 Fifth Ave. New York, New York 10011.  If it's still available I'm sure any bookseller in your area can get it for you, or you could try amazon.  Just superb!

You are right

We were talking about this at breakfast this morning.

I go to my conferences out of town and because of all the hassels

and humiliations with flying I am looking to travel by car and train more.

I am looking to take a train to this next conference I have and because it

is not so formal I may take my son that should be a lot of fun!!! I  just

found out not to long ago that Amtrak runs along the original "Pere Marquette"

route out of New Buffalo Michigan less than an hour from where we live. I

was thinking we could make a short weekend trip out of that.!!!!!!!!!!!!!
