Hi all! I just got a nice car and as I'm an Airbrush artist I thought it could be fun to: 1- Paint something for my own use. 2- Show my interest! 3- Pay homage to the Hobby that has meant the most to me! Here is a conceptual sketch of the project: I have also considered what locomotive to paint... The M1a is nice, but a NYC Hudson would also be nice..... What do you think? All pointers welcome!

Brutish would definitely be a 2-6-6-6 from the Virginian or C&O or a 2-8-8-4 from DM&IR. Nothing conveys brute force like they do. By the way your work is fantastic. Also wondering if you have gotten started on your new layout I remembered reading about a while back?

Oh my, that mountain and church scene is SPECTACULAR!   It looks like a Christmas card on wheels!  I think it will definately work with the other side if the locomotive is travelling through a winterscape.

Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it! :-) I think that the Pennsy style loco will make the cut! On the other side of the car, I have this planned: My wife is studying theology and is going to be a priest, so I designed some liturgical theme on this side. What do you think? Will it work with the other side?

Any steam locomotive with an Elesco feedwater heater on the smokebox is definitely going to have a brutish look, or consider an SD45 running long hood forward.

Hi Graffen!  Look, if it's a brutish look you want I think you have to go with one of the Pennsylvania Railroads locomotives, the K4, the I1, or any of the other steamers they had.  NOTHING said "Get out of my way, OR ELSE!"  like a Pennsy engine, at least in looks!  I think it was the late rail hisorian and author Don Ball who said the front of a Pennsy engine reminded him of a clenched fist.

I'd suggest a NYC Dreyfuss Hudson or a N&W  Class J  4-8-4, those are my favorites, well SOME of my favorites.  By the way, you look like one hell of a craftsman!

Thank's, but I don't think a Dreufuss loco gives the brutish impression I'm after... :-) The N&W class J on the other hand..... :-)
