Classic + question
Posted by Buster95 on Friday, April 6, 2012 12:34 PM

Why Classic + is only available to Subscribers, I have bought every issues since the first one, I'm not interested to Subscribe because every magazines I have received over the years in my mail box were folded in two. Why not a Classic + Subscription only (no magazines)? Hope my bad english is clear enough, sorry for that.

I think I kow why:   Kalmbach is the business of providing a livelihood for its owners and employees.   That it does this by serving our railfan needs is lucky for us, and we appreciate the extras and the good work they do.   But a strong subscription base is necessary for a magazine to develop advertizing revenue.   And a subscription base means more than newsstand sales to advertizers.

One other comment.   For a number of years I've been an OTR truck driver, and there would be stretches when I would not get to the house for 3 or 4 months at a stretch.  I could however get copies of Model Railroader, Trains & Classic Trains at various places on the road.  One was at a truck stop newstand(the truck stop owner was a railfan).

In addition many hobby shops had a place to park. Finding a parking place for a truck is not easy in some places(67' long) .   But could be had.   One hobby shop had the "truck parking" eliminated by a freeway expansion.  Others could only be had without a trailer.   Some were eliminated by changes in local ordinances(NO TRUCKS  ,  Weight Limit 5t,  Etc)

Thx IGN
