I believe you might be thinking about the Mistral. You should be able to do a web search and find out what you need.

The Mastrau is in southern France, and a different train than the Mistral. All I know from the web searches I have done is that it is a beautiful steam engine that takes a tour of the french countryside of Ardeche. I would love any further info....like, were there any models made of this engine? Or has anyone actually taken this tour? My french is so-so and it can be a little difficult to find more on the subject......I have found several great images of it in Google, I think I may just have to drum up the moola to see it for myself[:)]

Back on page 3 of this forum (in June) someone posted another message and a link to this train, see:

I didn't check the link but you might contact that poster for more info.

I learn something new every day. The Mastrou is, indeed, a time machine. I found several sites by searching on Dogpile. My French is rusty, but it started coming back as I read through the information. One of the sites said the Mastrou is a narrow gauge operation, but it was hard to tell from looking at the pictures. egmurphy is correct; beautiful train and beautiful country, structures, bridges, etc.

One tour that looked especially interesting was a combintion boat ride and rail trip...oh well, maybe in my next life.

BTW, there are sites with several other tourist operations in France, also on Dogpile. They all look interesting.
