I published this on the webpage of the ACL & SAL Historical Society tonight. We've lost another fine "railfan".
Frank E. Ardrey, Jr. 11-29-2011.
Frank was one of the southeast's most prolific photographers of railroad subjects and a member of the ACL & SAL HS.
A long time employee of the Southern Railway System in Birmingham, AL, Frank not only pointed his camera at Southern and Central of Georgia subjects, but all area railroads including the ACL & SAL. His photos have appeared in all sorts of rail oriented publications and books and in the pages of Lines South. Frank was a passionate railroader and fan alike; a gentile southern gentlemen who was always pleased to talk about trains in any form or fashion to anyone. His collection of photos now resides in the civil war museum in Kennesaw, GA along with other collections, such as that of the Southern Railway Historical Association. He will be missed. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family in respect for the passing of a fine member of our wonderful hobby
RIP
