Native American themes in interiors of streamliner trains
Posted by De Luxe on Sunday, November 6, 2011 4:04 PM

Hello everybody,

I would be interested to know how many streamliner trains in the US and Canada featured Native American themes in their interiors decoration. Especially I would like to know which tribes were featured. What I know is that the Santa Fe Super Chief, Chief, San Francisco Chief and probably the Texas Chief as well featured Navajo themed interiors. As for the Great Northern Empire Builder, I know that it too featured Native American themed interiors. But I don´t know of which tribes. Can anyone tell me if the Santa Fe used also art from other tribes than the Navajo? And which tribes were featured on the Great Northern Empire Builder? Have there been any other trains during the "golden age" that used Native American themed interiors as well? If so, art of which tribes was featured?

IIRC, the 'Blackfeet Nation' is the artwork that was used on the Great Northern on the EB...

The Milwaukee Road featured an indian motif as well...
